The Red Summer: A Threat to the Black Community
An outbreak of racial violence known as the Red Summer occurred in 1919, an event that affected at least 26 cities across the United States. History.com says white sailors recently home from the war had been on a days long drunken rampage assaulting and in some cases lynching black people on the capital streets. The Ku Klux Klan was sort of known for the art of lynching to make sure that you teach a lesson to all other blacks that would dare do what this one did.
