The Unification of the Gothic Empire
The descendants of the original Visigothic confederation are now the dominant elite of their own kingdom. The last person with a claim to be a Western Roman emperor is assassinated in 481. And so this new Gothic kingdom starts to come under heavy Frankish pressure and suffers some defeats. So I think in the face of rising Frankish pressure, these new Gothic elites think, well, Spain maybe looks better. We'll move there.
