With new videos being uploaded faster than new videos can be watched, the rules have changed again. Distribution changes what gets made. The movies of the 40s and the 50s and the 60s were based around directors. And they were based on movie stars. This model was upended by Steven Spielberg with his movie Jaws. It opened in all the theaters at once on a summer weekend. Television became the engine for these blockbuster movies.
