The average resting heart rate for the general population is about 70 beats per minute. With every one of those beats, it's going to eject a bit of blood. The time between contraction and relaxation is greater than 50 times a minute. Frank Starling: When your heart is contracting and relaxing, if you're only beating50 times a minute compared to 70, there's a lot more space in that period.
