The Effects of the Malt Tax on Beer
All the strengths went down after the 1770s because Britain's fights in a whole series of wars, which obviously cost money. And so you see strengths go right down during the Napoleonic Wars and only go back up again after 1815 when the tax comes down again. So it's something you say in all the wars, Britain supported any of the older, the major ones, they always put up the tax on beer and brewers got the strength. That's quite a bit. I can see why they were strong. Yeah.
