73 - Crassus III: Battle of Carrhae
Cost of Glory
The Battle of Carrhae
This chapter describes the Battle of Carrhae between the Parthians and Romans. The Parthians, led by Serena, have a vanguard composed of catafracts - knights covered in heavy plate mail along with their horses. They charge at the Roman lines, but the Romans hold firm. However, the Parthians then attack the Roman flanks with a larger force of mounted troops, using heavy bolts with razor-sharp barbs. The arrows overwhelm the Roman lines, causing heavy losses.
