Hugh of St. Victor - The Sacraments of the Christian Faith

Hugh considers the creation of the world itself to be a sacrament, an infusion of grace into the corporeal realm. Hugh believes that the restoration of fallen nature is more difficult than creating nature in the first place. Yet again, there is a connection here to Hugh's understanding of history. Broadly understood, history is quite simply everything that has happened in the physical universe.
