Sometimes you don't really need to know what it took to get the shot because that can affect your decision making seeing from just like a removed point of view. The argument often is, let's just say the filmmakers spend half the day trying to get this one shot and they get it and they'll celebrate. But then if the editor wasn't on set and didn't get that story and sort of shot at the end of the day, I was a bit of a crap shot and therefore got rid of it. That's often the argument is the why an editor should be on set also shouldn't be on set.
