Is That a Symbol?
The convention of pointing necessarily involves things that are present by you're pointing at it. So how is that a symbol? I can see it's a convention of some sort. And animals don't get it, but i'm not quite fitting the pieces together. You know, you cand see how that dove tails with just the idea of it becoming a simbol.You're interacting as if it's symbol in its fundamental character. Well, the symbol is the pointing or the eye. It's even done with eye glancing. Like we we actually point with our eyes. We have to create all the conjectual stuff on which joint attention and pointing usually rely through language.
