The Bomb Damage at the British Museum
Duy Guccomo Jolo is a senior gynecopics conservator at the British Museum. He was asked to come up with some estimations for their conservation of damaged glassware from Beirut bomb damage. The explosion in Beirut on August 4, 2020 caused an estimated 15 billion US dollars worth of property damage. A large amount of ammonium nitrate stored at the port of Beirut exploded causing 218 deaths and 7,000 injuries. Eight of those really damaged vessels have been brought to the British Museum to be conserved and put back together.
