Dark matter is the scaffolding of our universe. It doesn't just hold galaxies together and keep stars from falling apart. We see light actually bending around dark matter. There are these flows of dark matter and then there are regions where dark matter filaments intersect. That's where gas falls in, pools form stars and you form galaxies.
