Penicillin and Cefalo Sporans Associated Anaphylaxis

There does not appear to be any clinically significant immunologically mediated cross-reactivity between penicillums and Cefalo Sporans, or even between beta lactams sharing side chains. Skin test studies done on highly selected individuals with high rates of confirmed anaphylaxis have documented cross-re reactivity but these data have never been confirmed in challenge studies. Even unrelated antibiotic intolerances, i.e. sulfonimides increase your rate of having a new reaction reported to a beta lactam.
