The petrodollar, one of the two pillars that gave the dollar so much clout internationally, has been removed. Most countries are buying petroleum from Saudi Arabia in US dollars but it can now be done in other currencies. And another reason why other countries don't want to be so dependent on the dollar is because of the financial system in the US.
