The Disappointment of the Order
I think that these moments have happened on and off through the last 20 years of our history since the Guardian article, but most obviously and intensely in the last 18 months. And I know that the accompanying questioning and even turmoil has sometimes felt to us like there was something going wrong. So how I see the questioning and pain of our recent past is that it's a sign of our spiritual vitality if we let it be. And that is quite a big if. Because as we've seen it's much easier to blame or to ignore so we can keep the shattering of that pain. Being vulnerable means we can then receive everything which is so much harder than giving.
