Sand Pine, a Alagum.

There are different races of sand pine. There's a serotinous form, where the cones tend to stay closed until they burn or whatever. And then there 're others that open their cones, not quite as serotanous. But further south here, you get a pure stands forests of sand Pine. They tend to make even age stands that will get maybe 60 years old when they burn catastrophically. That haha. It definitely beats the trees for highest thing on the landscape.
