Many people are comfortable with others making decisions for them. Michaels cites an example of how many of the most active local political organizations are not run by socialists. The psychological need for leadership runs deeper than this, however. And so far as Michaels sees a genuine cult of leadership as quite normal among the working class. They are more than willing to elevate people to the position of heroes.
