If we narrow the field to just say North American equity funds that you can buy here in the UK, only 19% of active funds outperformed their passive equivalent in 2021. Over 10 years, 85% of active Funds in the UK equity sector underperformed over 10 years. You've got a 15 out of a hundred chance of choosing the right fund and beating the market or beating the market at all. Doesn't not great odds.
