The Importance of Interdisciplinarity in Environmental Studies

In the late 70s when I completed my doctorate I said I don't want to be an academic in the early 90s like about 20 to 15, 18 years later. My dear friend Diane Marino was teaching in the Faculty of Environmental Studies in 80s she passed away in 1993 and her position became open. She was already familiar with this faculty, because it was an unusual faculty is the first faculty of environmental studies in the country. It started as a critique of the disciplinary approaches to environmental issues and said we need to bring all disciplines in. You can't look at environmental issues is just physical ecological after within the social political spiritual etc. But I already had that interdisciplinarity
