Consensus Is Not Imperative
Consensus is not indispensable. It's in many ways desirable, but consensus around the wrong idea would be worthless. I think the idea that will come to consensus is very attractive to philosophers. We get into a lot of trouble when we say "we don't need the consent of the governed"
