Polygenism and Original Sin: Can They Be Conciliated?

The traditional understanding of original sin is Adam and Eve were one couple. Paul VI issued cautions about polygenism just saying you shouldn't proceed as if it's been proved. Later in John Paul II's reign by 1996, when he gave his famous speech to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, he goes silent on the question of polygenism.
