The Role of Serotonin in Mental Health
Most of serotonin in the human body is actually stored in platelets, which is used for platelet activation. In the gut, we have the serotonin that is produced by two different cell types. The serotonin in the neurons in the gut typically regulate motility and they regulate neurogenesis. There's a lot of research that's come out that's saying, okay, well, if it's not serotonin per se in the gut, it is the precursors.
