The Role of Women in the Middle Ages
In medieval society, the main task for women was to get married and have babies. The assumption is if you're born a woman, someday you're going to be somebody's wife and mother. There are all kinds of important roles for men, but this is just not what's going on. It's grim when you read a lot about it because having children is so dangerous before the 19th century.
