The Different Types of Pain
Pain is an unpleasant, sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. It's a sensory experience, but there is an emotional component to it that differentiates pain from other unpleasant sensations. In the UK, somewhere in the region of between a third and half of the adult population experience chronic pain at any one period of time. But I don't have to see a broken bone to believe that you have pain - just that it's in the context of that tissue damage that happens.
