The Court's Decision on Race in College Admissions
The Supreme Court ruled that an applicant's discussion of how race affected his or her life can be taken into account in college admissions applications. The court also said a benefit to a student who overcame racial discrimination, for example, must be tied to that student's courage and determination. "I don't know if they're concerns that saying you can't even talk about race in your application would actually raise kind of speech concerns on the students part," says CNN legal analyst Donna Brazile.
