The God of Comfort

Paul says that as they experience the same suffering that Paul himself suffers, our hope for you is unshaken. He's going to expand on this line of thought a little further in verse eight. In Asia, the affliction they were experiencing made them feel utterly burdened beyond their strength so much so that they despised even life itself. That sounds like being given more than they can handle.
