In the early 18 hundred language was the substitute, the precursor for race talk. And it's amazing when you read some of this stuff about how this idea that the german people speak a language unpolluted by mediterranean or north african languages is so much more authentic and genuine and unpolluted. It shows how tthe german people are really the last pure people whose, again, just language. They're not talking obout really race very much. A, but they are still connected with the soil," he says.
