The History of Caskets
In the late 1800s local cabinet and furniture makers also served as undertakers which makes plain the shape of caskets now. The lid was made from a sheet of glass which allowed mourners to view the deceased but if something like an accident happened and it was not a pleasant sight I'm hoping that they had options for not glass that way. By the beginning of the 20th century caskets had completely overtaken coffins. Some parts of Indonesia loved ones will care for their deceased ancestors. If I am not cremated I want a coffin. You may have that option.
