The Death of a Cannibal

Marla and her crew are travelling through Africa on a steam-powered boat. They find an abandoned hut 50 miles from where they hope to meet Kurt City Station. The idea of meeting this mysterious man keeps Marla going. But when the sun rises, they are surrounded by dense fog and can't see anything. A spear strikes the ship and pierces the helmsmen steering the boat. He dies at Marla's feet, who jumps on the ship's horn  to scare off local tribesmen. And how does he vent his frustration? He throws a pair of shoes overboard into the river.
