Some REITs are highly correlated with the stock market. Other ones have correlations that are only about 0.2 or 0.3. Looking at the markets, the S&P 500 was up 1.39% for the week. Small cap value represented by VIOV was down 0.13%. And that is most likely due to the fact that there are banks in small cap value funds.
