Mallory mc duff wrote this for sojourners in two thousand 13. During the service, she says, i sobbed in the sanctuary. Like many people facing mid life, i have experienced a bit of despair. As i used my sleeve to wipe the tears from my cheeks, i saw friends raising their hands to the edges of their eyes as well. It was as if we had been holding back grief for weeks,. But what was i grieving and why was church such a safe place for me to cry?
