millinder's band were able to combine all the boogy jump and give sounds with ta strong blues feeling. Winony Harris was already known as mister blues when milinder first saw him playing in chicago nd invited him to join the band. He was primarily a blue shouter, inspired by people like big joe turner and jimmy rushing,. but he could also perform in a subtler style, close to the give singing of a cab calloway or louis jordan.
