It has also been proposed that Ettory Myerana was actually kidnapped by Allied soldiers and forced to work for the US government. The United States had its own version of Operation Osoviakim, which focused on recruiting, capturing, and sometimes outright kidnapping Nazi scientists. It would have been nearly impossible to keep Ettory's involvement with the Manhattan Project a secret if he was really involved. If the Nazis had the foresight to consider Ettory that valuable, then they would have also known that he would have been much more useful to them alive.
