The Importance of Vertical Scaling in Cloud Native
Not everything can be horizontally scaled in the cloud. Sometimes you don't want necessarily horizontal scaling, it's more efficient to allocate one resource and that resource is allocated to running a job or some process very frequently. And then other times you might have a need for volume, very, very adjustable volume over time. I like the zombie resources analogy. It was part of the green software track or design for sustainability. One thing that I see elasticity tends to affect cost, right? The thing that people don't realize is networking components often are probably the culprit of the zombie resource.
