Drug Testing in Prisons

We obtained canines. The prison system had previously not had dogs. And dogs are very effective at detecting drugs as well as phones. We used them in a variety of ways, including checking the cars of incoming visitors and when we did sell block shakedowns. All the while, the testing of inmates for drug use was on going. Sanctions were used for those who fell foul of the rules. They were also questioned. If an inmate tested positive for drugs, that was an intelligence gathering opportunity.
