Photos has a lot of really cool tools to help populate the shared library Pretty pretty easily you can of course manually move them. It also has sharing suggestions, which I think is probably the best way to get started where photos will look at Who's in the photo? Photos of people that you've told it so like in the in the mail in the Mac settings You can just add people and say I want suggestions based on this.
