Nolan Bushnell first came into contact with computer games back during his college days. As early as 1974, their R&D team was putting together plans for a microprocessor-based video game. This shift introduced its own issue, cost. A console built around the 6800 would be pretty powerful, but it would also cost an arm and a leg.
