The key calculus would be pay a dividend if you're not sure about the durability of the business. The board needs to get involved with these things, and it's important that they help the CEO make these decisions. Pay your dividend if the if the stock is overpriced and you don't have good allocation alternatives elsewhere. And if it's undervalued, then buy back.
