The ethic of authenticity pushes you to always play in this arms race of self expression. China has an advantage in this space is because they don't have the weird sort of cultural programming, the kind of Protestant ethic that we have in the West. And so it's much more acceptable to be a conformist and I think AI could potentially up end some of the forces that were driving weird culture.
