The Importance of Tolkien

Tolkien is not necessarily a pro stylist like Jean Wolf or you know in terms of the plot it can be a little bit slow sometimes compared to some of the stuff that you read today. But he does more I think than just tell stories about perfect heroes who aren't really heroic and murder people so on there's lots of real temptation for him. He was friends with C.S. Lewis right and Lewis writes the Narnia books somewhat contemporaneously but they're telling brilliant children stories with a kind of theological subtext. And Tolkien actually sort of had a certain with certainly a little bit dismissive towards Lewis for these reasons.
