Like so many stories of Heracles, many of the men he loved are just footnotes. The list is weirdly baffling and slightly contentious but we're going to do our best to cover them all. Nereus was a king of Simmy, an island I visited for the first time just last month. According to one late source Aphrodite taught the centaur Nessos how to ensnare Heracles in punishment for ever being with Adonis.
