I understand Alzheimer's far more in the last seven years than I did for the 20 years previous to that. It's really moving on. Back then, I guess this was still back in the 90s. You started to make use of something, or maybe the turn of the millennium called the genome-wide association study. So it's a very simple design. Any one tag or SNP can occur in one of two forms. If you find that form one is more frequent in those individuals with Alzheimer's disease, you have an association with that variant.
