Is There a Difference Between Psychology and Open Source Science?

I'm most familiar with our MIT and the University of Waterloo and to some degree to some degree Stanford as well I've haven't been having a lot of conversation with Stanford people recently. The kind of net utility of being at these universities is diminishing private labs industrial research is going up and I just don't see a lot of excitement there. There are different motivations so for example somebody may you know in a private lab the knowledge is proprietary let's say or you're only researching something that your company wants to research. You have a broader palette to play with in academia you might not have the same work pressures. How much is how much disincentives are there for talented people to move away
