The Life and Times of Amy Bishop
Amy Bishop was born on April 24, 1965 in Braintree, Massachusetts. Her father Sam was an art professor at Northeastern University while her mother Judy was an elected town official. Although extremely bright, Amy was plagued by a number of physical challenges. She had severe allergies which caused her to break out in hives and rashes; frequent bouts of asthma which often landed her in the emergency room. These medical issues are what initially inspired Amy to pursue science as a career.
