Peter Pragapant: Where do we start with Byzantine? The chronological starting point is Rome. By the year 300, it's basically so big that it's thought to be too big for one person to run. So there's an Emperor of the west and an emperor of the east. And Constantine decide that it's time to build a new megacity in the east on the banks of the Bosphorus. That then becomes the great queen of cities that survives up until the present day.
