Taiwan produces one sixth of global microprocessors, 90% of the ultra high-end ones which China can't create at the moment. That is entirely because of state-led innovation by the Taiwanese government. The German government has done that kind of almost single handedly to make fusion on the grid a reality. And it's light years ahead of any other stellarator.
