The Art of Implanting False Memories
The process of preparing a witness for trial could involve implanting false memories. It feels exactly like something that happened, but in reality, it never did. Human memory works as a way of adding to a coherent understanding of the world built up over a lifetime of experience. A defence lawyer or prosecutor will use a question the predicate in the cross examination to get witness to say yes to something which may not be true. Police interviews can implant false memories. And of course, cross examination is the art of implanted false memories. There's no question about it.
