The Neurogenesis of Parkinson's Disease

Scientists have devised a method for converting astrocytes, which is another cell type in the brain, into dopaminergic neurons. The new neurons were able to restore the motor deficits in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease. "It's really incredible research," says senior author Zhang Dong Fu.
