The Functions of a Prophet

The prophet is seen as the representative of God declaring what God himself has said. Jesus would say, I'm not telling you anything of my own, everything that I'm telling you is given to me by the Father. So he has given himself over completely to being that representative of God in both word and deed. The majority of Old Testament prophets function was the fourth telling.
