How to Escape Earth's Gravity
The famous gravity slingshot was invented by an Italian engineer working for NASA in the 60s and 70s. Resetta it actually headed off into space and then came back to the earth and used the gravity of the earth to turn itself. In so doing exchanged a little bit of energy with the earth the earth got tiny tiny tiny bit slower. It is playing a game with the rest of the planets in the solar system, says John Grunsfeld.
