Alcibiades is a recalcitrant student because he knows very well from Socrates' words. He's infatuated with him, and it's the point of jealousy and rage and anger. This goes to lie to something Socrates says elsewhere, which is that men would not do evil if they knew better. That knowledge would prevent them from acting immorally and badly.
